About the
Program
This is a 3 year post graduate program recognised by the Medical Council of India. The program includes rotational postings in the Departments of Microbiology, General Medicine, TB and Chest Medicine and Dermatology.
The student gains a good practical experience in our Microbiology and state of art Serology Laboratories. The close collaboration of the department with National AIDS Control Organisation and National Tuberculosis Control Program, gives the student the opportunity to participate in various Public Health Programmes.
The department supervises the Hospital Infection Control Committee, and issues guidelines regarding antibiotic use in the hospital. This exposure will train the candidate in application of knowledge of Microbiology in the hospital setting and in industry. This practical training is backed by a robust teaching program , where the subject with all its sub-specialities is taught via lectures, seminars, journal clubs and case discussions. The experience gained by the student facilitates the development of excellent laboratory skills and sound judgement in the practice of Microbiology and all its sub-specialities.
